The LUMA Magnetic Phone Mount uses 4 neodymium magnets rated to hold up to 400g. We test it with an iPhone 15 Pro Max inside an OtterBox Defender case — the heaviest mainstream phone-plus-case combination we could find — and it stays put on highway-grade bumps, dirt roads, and hard braking. The metal plate included in the box bonds to the inside of any phone or case (or sits between the phone and case) so you get the magnetic grip on every phone, not just MagSafe models.

The mount clips onto any horizontal-blade air vent — the kind where vent slats run side-to-side. It does not fit vertical-only or diagonal-only vents. Because there is no spring-loaded clamp pressing on the slats, there is no plastic stress on the vent housing and no risk of cracking or warping the slats over time. Silicone grip pads on the clip keep the mount steady without leaving marks.

On the phone side, any iPhone 6 or newer running iOS 10+ works for wireless CarPlay; any phone running Android 11+ works for wireless Android Auto. On the car side, your vehicle must already have factory wired CarPlay or Android Auto — the adapter simply replaces the cable that normally connects those systems to your phone. It is not compatible with BMW vehicles or with cars that lack factory CarPlay/Android Auto. Plug it into your car's USB-A data port, pair via Bluetooth once, and it auto-connects on every subsequent drive.

After the first Bluetooth pairing, the adapter auto-connects in about 5 seconds from the moment you start the car. The link runs over dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz + 5GHz), so maps, music streaming, and call audio stream lag-free — comparable to a wired CarPlay or Android Auto connection. Bluetooth 5.0 gives a stable 10-meter range with auto-reconnect, and over-the-air firmware updates keep the adapter compatible as Apple and Google evolve their car platforms.

Installation is zero-tool. Each strip has 3M adhesive backing — peel, stick to a clean surface under the dash, along the footwells, or in the door panels, and press. The kit plugs into any 12V USB port (or included cigarette-lighter adapter) — no wire cutting, no fuse taps, no panel removal. The strips are IP65 water-resistant, so a spilled drink or car wash overspray is not a problem. Total install time for most drivers is 15 to 30 minutes.

Two controls ship in the box: an RF remote (works without a phone, can be clipped to a vent or stuck to a dash panel) and a free iOS + Android app. The app unlocks the full 16 million-color spectrum, custom scenes, presets, and Music Sync mode — a built-in microphone maps the LED rhythm to whatever is playing. Either control works on its own; you do not have to use both.
